DRAGONCON 2002 | PANEL OF THE X-FILES GUEST STARS | TERYL'S PANEL
STARGATE SG-1 GUEST STARS PANEL | TERYL ROTHERY, PETER WILLIAMS, SARAH DOUGLAS
Saturday, August 31, 2002
I am paraphrasing big time. Any and all typos are mine. Please feel free to e-mail me. if I got something wrong.
Teryl sort of took charge from the start, telling how the panel was going to look like. We ask, they answer. She is much like Janet in being able to command and audience, otherwise she is TOTALLY different. Loud, open, hilariously funny, and VERY chatty.
Peter Williams was taking pics of the crowd and drank his "jaffa juice". He
was nice and charming.
Sarah Douglas apologized for not having many memories of filming the "Tok'ra". She had to be reminded of the episode name she was in. She said she knew things of the show when she was on it, but forgot everything when they wrapped filming.
TERYL ROTHERY
Latest project: Teryl is on SciFi Channel's Threshold, playing a loud potty-mouthed Texan, wife of Nick Lea's character, who gets infected by an alien bug that takes him over and he sucks her dry. But she deserves it, coz she is a really bad person.
BIG hair moment: She had big hair on Threshold. This topic started the line of the "big hair" thread evident in the other actors' bits.
Huff and ruffle: Teryl explained and demonstrated to us how the posture
and behaviour of RDA and Chris Judge changes at times. On cold mornings before
the shooting, the guys go up to the pretty and usually half nekkid guest stars
while Amanda and Teryl are half frozen. The guys pose for the guesties. See
demosntration in the pics below. Corin doesn't participate, since he just got
married and he knows they' d rat on him. Teryl read FF, she recalls one in particular, where she had a shower scene
with Hammond. Teryl described how the water trickled down between her breasts....
LOL... "next scene, she's with Teal'c, then with Daniel, then with Sam." She
laughs.
How different is she from Janet? (Apart from the obvious... 8o)))Janet is very
calm and collected and when they did Meridian, and everyone was tearing up and
was huggy, she had to stay in character and that was tough.
One of her fave is episodes is Urgo, as Dom DeLuise is a genious. Dom/Urgo
would do stuff to Janet that she's not supposed to notice, like playing with
her hair and blowing into her ear and the she got a nice compliment from Dom
for not cracking up.
She was very touched by how Peter DeLuise went about directing that ep: Anytime
you're ready, Dad.
She loved The Broca Divide, where Janet was introduced, as it had very touching
scenes... the drool on the cro magnon SG1 was disgusting BTW.
Singularity had very good moments for Sam and her as well, liked that too.
What ended up in the cutting room floor: In Ascension Sam and Jan was
supposed to have a conversation that went something like this... Sam: I have
a date | Jan: You? A date? (Sam leaves while Jan is shaking her head in disbelief)
Teryl told the guys to keep the camera rolling after the scene. She tore her
lab coat open, throw it and the stethoscope away, walked up to Siler, who was
laying on a hospital bed in the background. She straddled him, and asked: How
sick are you, Siler? = of course the director just happened to be watching the
scenes at the time on his own monitor... This woman is just too much!!
Practical joke on the set: Teryl admitted to being VERY chatty on more
than one occasion. Part of this is caused by caffeine, so the actors don't like
to see her with coffee in hand... One morning she went to make-up, and Chris
Judge was sitting there just trying to relax. She started talking, and Chris
made a remark about that. She took offense and decided not to hear him all day
long. Every time Chris talked to her, she went... do you hear that strange noise?
What is that annoying sound? They just had lunch, were supposed to get back
on the set after their make-up was fixed. Chris made a last attempt at trying
to talk to her, but she ignored him yet again. So Chris came back with some
tape and taped her to the chair. Shoulders, boobs, legs and all and said: this
was the last time you were ignoring me! They had to cut her out of it.
No word about season 7 yet. Teryl switches to her bed southern accent
and tells us how Don Davis is clueless as to buy a house in Canada or in California.
In Legacy, she added the bit when Jan starts stripping under the influence
of the Ma'chello drug. Don Davis showed up to see how far she'd go. RDA ad libs
all the time, but he can, coz he's the exec producer.
The cast misses MS, but they socialize and CN is more than filling his shoes.
Teryl played against him in a movie with Melissa Joan Hart, she knew him already.
PETER WILLIAMS :: LORD APOPHIS Latest project: Peter Williams is on DaVinci's Inquest.
BIG hair moment: He had a fro on Neo Rider and on SweetWater,
Fave episode: is Children of the gods, as he got the most money for it (laughs)
and he was in that the most. His other fave is The Nox.
What ended up in the cutting room floor: One ep, Apophis has a harem of four
girls. The set is nice and dark, moody with curtains and candles. The set caught
on fire. 8o)
He loved the costumes. He loved ChotG as he could show his abs - with minor
make-up touch-ups. (Sarah: Show your what? Abdominal muscles... Oh... giggles.
She obviously heard something else. They used a technique called "flenging" (sp?) to make the Goa'uld voices.
Practical joke on the set: In Serpent's Song they left him tied to a gurney
after his last scene long after everyone was gone. They thought it'd be funny.
He hinted he may be coming back, in the ep Chris Judge wrote (Changeling) along
with Carmen Argenziano, Tony Amendola and Michael Shanks.
He lived next door to Garwin Sanford (Narim), who built a nice log cabin all
by himself. They met at the store a lot.
SARAH DOUGLAS :: GARSHAW (TOK'RA) Latest project: She's to film a movie in Sweden about a woman who seduces a
younger man. The story takes place in the 60s.
Fun memories: When she was in Superman II, she had a cold, she had a guy who's
sloe job was to wipe her nose when she was hanging upside down. She had to go
back filming 9 months after they wrapped. Everyone looked way different, watch
our for the cahnges when you're wtaching the movie.
BIG hair moment: She had long hair when they made her wear the short whig on
SII. She had REALLY big hair on Falcon Crest, where she played a vixen.
She wished she played on V instead of Falcon Crest, a role she turned down,
because SF fans are greatful and remember her. That is also one of the drawbacks,
when she makes crappy movies, they remember that as well.
All three panelists were delightful and open about their work. Had a great
time on this panel.
Please do NOT use these pics elsewhere without asking first. I'll say yes, but
I like to know where these go. Feel free to link to us, but under NO circumstances
link to the images directly. The images are semi-large (over 200k), may take
time to load on dial-up.
